The first of three days of UltraSessions at UltraSuede Studio is in the can! Everything looked and sounded great!

I’ve been behind the board all afternoon mixing some great bands live on the internets! The Chocolate Horse and Fists of Love were both great. You can check out their session below!

bniesz mixtape 02: “Jebus”

Posted 08 Jun 2011

I started this mixtape in post-WOXY unemployment oblivion, but have just recently decided to complete and post it. The following is a compilation of ten songs with “Jesus” (or in one case “Lord”) in their lyrics. As I’m not a particularly religious person, I see these songs more as spiritual metaphors, rather than Christian dogma. Some songs may have more religious overtones than others; while others may challenge traditional religious views. You may also notice that tracks six, seven, and eight have much more in common than a single lyric; yet are still quite unique from one another in their own right. Listen yourself and interpret how you will. Enjoy.

Download: “Jebus” (78.6MB zip)

01. Tom Waits – “Jesus Gonna Be Here”
02. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – “White Palms”
03. The Rolling Stones – “Sympathy For The Devil”
04. Kurt Vile – “Jesus Fever”
05. The Velvet Underground – “Jesus”
06. Bob Dylan – “In My Time of Dyin’”
07. Spacemen 3 – “Come Down Easy”
08. Led Zeppelin – “In My Time of Dying”
09. Pink Mountaintops – “Lord, Let Us Shine”
10. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – “Devil’s Waitin’”

Sundresses Back in the Studio

Posted 13 May 2011

Last month I had the pleasure to have The Sundresses back in the studio for the first time since we finished their award-winning album Barkinghaus. We laid down some basic tracks for their next album which may or may not be titled “Harpoon Dagger.”

Check out these videos from set-up time in the studio:

Drum Mic Tour:
This was not the final drum mic set up, though it was pretty close.

Drum Sounds Rockout:
Jeremy rocks out listening to the session drum sound on playback for the first time.

Austin Psych Fest 3 Highlights

Posted 28 Apr 2010

Friday
Warpaint was the first band I saw and they were so so so good that I thought about leaving cause I knew no one would top them.

Saturday
I wasn’t expecting such an elaborate full-band stage show from Pink Mountaintops, but it was perfect.
The Black Angels played a special preview performance of their new album. It sounded good, but of course I didn’t recognize any songs.

Sunday
I’m sad that The Warlocks didn’t play much of their early records, but they played a great set nonetheless.

I have no idea who the guyThanks to Rob, I now know it to be GULL from Richmond VA – wearing the mask and playing guitar and drums simultaneously on the landing above the merch booth was, but he was fucking awesome.
